Notes on the makers behind Roman Pell.

Serica began in 1870 as a silk reeling house and has been run by the same family ever since.

The mill is in Follina, a town in the foothills below the Dolomites. The name comes from follatura, the fulling of cloth, done in the valley since the twelfth century.

Upstairs are hand Jacquard looms from the early nineteenth century, still weaving silk brocade for religious vestments. A day of weaving produces ten to fifteen centimeters of cloth.

For Spring Summer 2027, cotton and silk cloths were woven and dyed here to our specification.
